Welcome to Writing Yoga!
You don’t need a mat or stretchy clothing. Just something to write with, and a willingness to work on your writing practice.
Why use yoga as a metaphor? Yoga is a great way to build flexibility, strength, and balance. And, you can do it in small bursts here and there, or make it a regular practice.
Plus, yoga teachers are always telling us to breathe and relax.
These are all good things for writing!
How it works
The first week of every month, I’ll post a new exercise for you to work on.
Like yoga, these exercises will help you
- Stretch your writing skills, testing the extremes and expanding your comfort zone
- Strengthen skills by working on a particular practice that elevates the work
- Find your balance by testing different voices and extremes
If an exercise resonates with you, give it a try:
- Use it when journaling
- Work it into your everyday writing, like emails
- Try it in your writing projects
They are meant to be fun. You can share your results or let them sit privately in your journals.
