Greetings, Stanford Continuing Education authors!
Here are a few links* we talked about or that you might find helpful:
- Author Central: authorcentral.amazon.com
- Amazon Marketing: advertising.amazon.com
- David Gaughran’s book Amazon Decoded, which covers all about Amazon
- Substack — George Saunder’s Story Club Substack is amazing, for those who write short stories!
- Independent Book Publishers’ Association: I use them to list my books on NetGalley.
- BookBub: Discount book deals. Sign up and give it a try. When your book is out, claim it as an author by signing up at partners.bookbub.com.

Author websites
This is a big topic, and I defer to Jane Friedman. Find her informative post here: How to Build an Author Website: Getting Started Guide. Jane is a great source of publishing info in general!
I use a full-featured, WordPress-based site called Rainmaker Platform, which has enough support that I can be my own webmaster. If that sounds interesting, use my referral link to get three months free. It’s around $1500 a year, so it’s a lot if you’re doing a simple author page.
Other useful tools
Useful software for formatting mostly text, simple layout books: Vellum (affiliate link)
Tool for researching categories and keywords: PublisherRocket. (affiliate link)
My fun business cards (nice card stock, small quantities possible) come from Moo. (Referral link, you get a discount if you use it.)
Distributing Advance Reading Copies and review copies after publication: BookFunnel. (Costs about $20 per year for their simplest plan)
Audiobook marketplace and distributor for going “wide” beyond Amazon/Audible: Findawayvoices.
My course on running discount book promotions. (I’ve discounted it for course attendees.)
If you have questions on anything we covered, feel free to email me at anne@annejanzer.com.
